Lamp and Light Bulb Buying Together.
When deciding on lighting to add color and dimension to your home, there are many factors to consider: installation types, functionality, and the bulbs themselves—a small detail that many often overlook. LED technology has advanced rapidly, and with so many types available, each with its own unique properties, choosing the right bulb is essential for maximizing efficiency and longevity.
In this guide, we will explore the different types of LED bulbs, their applications, and how to match them with your fixtures to ensure optimal performance.
What are LED Bulbs?

LED (Light Emitting Diode) technology represents a modern evolution in lighting. Unlike traditional bulbs that generate light by heating a filament, LEDs produce light through the movement of electrons within a semiconductor. This eliminates issues like excess heat, allows for a lifespan of up to 50,000 hours, consumes significantly less wattage, provides eye-friendly illumination, and is environmentally friendly. Modern LEDs are now available in a variety of shapes to suit every application.
Popular Types of LED Bulbs
LEDs have largely replaced traditional options like fluorescent, incandescent, and halogen bulbs. They are designed to fit existing fixtures while offering better efficiency, lower heat, and superior brightness. The two primary types used in homes, hotels, and industrial buildings are:
-
LED BULB: Used as a direct replacement for incandescent or compact fluorescent (CFL) bulbs. They are popular because they are now very affordable, come in various wattages, have beautiful shapes, and help save energy and costs.
-
LED TUBE: The modern replacement for traditional neon or long fluorescent tubes. They are highly favored by businesses, malls, and factories looking to reduce operating costs without compromising on brightness.
How to Match Bulbs with Your Fixtures
Matching the right bulb to your fixture depends on the base (socket) type and the lamp's design. Here is a breakdown of the common LED bases:
1. E27 Base
The E27 is a standard "screw-in" base. You can choose different color temperatures and wattages depending on your needs.

-
LED BULB (E27): Usually opaque white and spherical. Popular for downlights, wall lamps, and table lamps where the bulb is hidden. Available in Warm White, Cool White, Daylight, and "Smartlight" (controllable via smartphone).
-
LED Vintage (E27): Featuring a transparent glass design that exposes the decorative filament. These are designed for aesthetic appeal and are perfect for Pendant Lamps or vintage table lamps. Many now come with dimmable features.
2. E14 Base
Often called the "small screw" base, this is typically used with candle-shaped or flame-shaped bulbs. They are the standard for Chandeliers and Wall Lamps. Replacing traditional incandescent E14 bulbs with LEDs significantly reduces heat, protecting delicate crystal or glass fixtures.

3. MR16 Base
Recognizable by two short, sharp metal pins. These bulbs are designed for "spot" lighting and are commonly used in HL-series downlights. They are available in Warm White, Cool White, and Daylight.

4. G4 and G9 Bases
These are "bi-pin" bases where two small prongs extend from the bulb body. Despite their tiny size, they provide powerful 360-degree illumination. The "4" and "9" refer to the distance in millimeters between the pins. These are most commonly used in luxury crystal chandeliers.
